Dermal Filler

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gelsĀ  made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring substance in the body. They are used to restore volume and fullness to the face, and can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers can also be used to enhance facial features, such as the lips, cheeks, and chin.

What does dermal filler treat?

Dermal fillers are commonly utilized for lip augmentation, cheek lifting and augmentation, and facial contouring to lessen signs and symptoms of aging, such as fine lines and wrinkles and volume loss.

What can I expect after receiving my dermal filler treatment?

After receiving dermal fillers, it is normal to experience some mild swelling, redness and bruising around the injection site. These side effects are usually temporary and should subside within a few hours to a few days. It is important to avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment to prevent the filler from shifting or spreading to others areas, along with risk of infection.

Some patients may experience more fullness than expected in the treated area immediately after they receive their filler. The filler will draw in the skin's hyaluronic acid, which causes extra fullness and swelling. After about two weeks, this additional fullness subsides and the final results are presented. The full effects of dermal fillers may take several days to become visible and the results typically last 12 months or more, depending on the specific filler used and the area treated. Please keep in mind, it is imperative to avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for three days post treatment.

How many syringes will I need?

Every patient is unique, and goals vary. With natural results as our forefront priority, we specialize in treating specific "areas" of the face with treatment volumes recommend for that individual patient, instead of treating patients "per syringe." This allows our providers to give our patients the most natural and beautiful cosmetic results with dermal filler!
